The idea of an International Day of Yoga was
first proposed by the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi during his
speech at the UNGA, on 27 September 2014.
yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient
tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint
and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health
and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness
with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating
consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an
International Yoga Day.

One of the busiest railway station in
India, the Victoria Terminus (VT), now known as the Chhatrapati Shivaji
Terminus (CST) opened in Bombay (Mumbai) in 1887.
In the 1850s, the Great Indian Peninsular Railway built its
railway terminus in the Bori Bunder area along the Eastern shore line of
Mumbai. Bori Bunder was used as a storehouse for goods imported and exported
from Mumbai. It was eventually rebuilt as Victoria Terminus, named after the
then reigning Queen.
In 1996, Victoria Terminus was renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji
Terminus by Suresh Kalmadi, who was the Minister of Railways at the time. It
was done to honour legendary Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji.
On 2 July 2004, the station was nominated as a World
Heritage Site by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO. The official website
of UNESCO describes it as, an outstanding example of Victorian Gothic Revival
architecture in India, blended with themes deriving from Indian traditional
architecture."

Raj Chandra Bose (19 June 1901 – 31 October
1987) was an Indian American mathematician and statistician best known for his work in design theory, finite geometry and the theory of error-correcting
codes in which the class of BCH codes is partly named after him.
He also invented the notions of partial geometry, strongly regular graph, and started a systematic
study of difference sets to construct symmetric block designs. He was notable for his work along with S. S. Shrikhande and E. T. Parker in their disproof of the
famous conjecture made by Leonhard Euler dated 1782 that there do not exist two mutually orthogonal Latin squares of order 4n + 2
for every
Bose was born in Hoshangabad, India; he was the first of five children. His
father was a physician and life was good until 1918 when his mother died in the influenza pandemic. His father died of a stroke the following
year. Despite difficult circumstances, Bose continued to study securing first
class in the M.A. examinations in pure mathematics at the University of
Calcutta. His research was performed under the supervision of the geometry Professor Syamadas
Mukhopadhyaya from Calcutta. Bose worked
as a lecturer at Asutosh College,
Calcutta. He published his work on the differential
geometry of convex curves.
Bose's course changed in December 1932 when P. C. Mahalanobis, director of the new (1931) Indian Statistical Institute, offered Bose a part-time job. Mahalanobis
had seen Bose's geometrical work and wanted him to work on statistics. The day
after Bose moved in, the secretary brought him all the volumes of Biometrika with a list of 50 papers to read and
also Fisher's Statistical Methods for
Research Workers.
Mahalanobis told him, "You were saying that you do not know much
statistics. You master the 50 papers ... and Fisher's
book. This will
suffice for your statistical education for the present." With Samarendra Nath Roy, who joined the ISI a
little later, Bose was the chief mathematician at the Institute.
He first worked with multivariate analysis where he collaborated
with Mahalanobis and Roy. In 1938–9 Fisher visited India and talked about the
design of experiments. Roy had the idea of using the theory of finite
fields and finite
geometry to solve
problems in design. The development of a mathematical theory of design would be
Bose's main preoccupation until the mid-1950s.

Leander Adrian Paes (born 17 June 1973) is
an Indian professional tennis player who is considered
to be one of the best doubles and mixed doubles
players of all time, having achieved a career Grand Slam in each discipline.
He has won eight doubles and
ten mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, and is the
oldest man to have won a Grand Slam title. He holds a career Grand Slam in
men's doubles and mixed doubles, and achieved the rare men's doubles/mixed
doubles double at the 1999
Wimbledon tournament.
His mixed doubles Wimbledon title in 2010 made him the second man (after Rod
Laver) to win Wimbledon titles in three decades.[1]
One of the most successful professional Indian tennis players, he has received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour, in 1996–97; the Arjuna Award in 1990; the Padma Shri award in 2001 and its 3rd Highest Civilian Award the Padma Bhushan in January 2014 for his outstanding contribution to tennis in India

(popularly called Deshbandhu "Friend of the country")
(Birth 5 November 1869 ,Death 16 June 1925) was an Indian politician and
Founder-leader of the Swaraj (Independence) Party in Bengal under British rule.
Deshbandhu was one of the greatest of men... He
dreamed... and talked of freedom of India and of nothing else... His heart knew
no difference between Hindus and Mussalmans and I should like to tell
Englishmen, too, that he bore no ill-will to them.

Global Wind Day

Global Wind Day is
a worldwide event that occurs annually on 15 June.
It is organized by EWEA (European Wind Energy Association)
and GWEC (Global
Wind Energy Council). It is a day when wind energy is
celebrated, information is exchanged and adults and children find out about
wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to change the world. In
association with EWEA and GWEC, national wind energy associations and companies
involved in wind energy production organize events in many countries around the
world. In 2011, there were events organized in 30 countries, on 4 continents.
Events included visits to onshore and offshore wind farms, information
campaigns, demonstration turbines being set up in cities, wind workshops and a
wind parade. Many events happened on Global Wind Day (15 June) itself, but
there were also events on the days and weeks before and afterwards. In 2012
there were 250 events around the globe and a very popular photo competition.

celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event, established in 2004, serves to raise awareness of
the need for safe blood and blood
products, and to thank blood
donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.
World Blood Donor Day celebration brings a
precious opportunity to all donors for celebrating it on national and global
level as well as to commemorate the birthday anniversary of the Karl
Landsteiner (a great scientist who won the Nobel Prize for his great discovery
of the ABO blood group system).

School reopen with cheerful mood
With
anxiety on their faces, cute baby entered the schooling phase of their lives on
Monday and returned home after a day class to narrate some thrilling experience
of their first day at school to parents and siblings. All schools accorded a
rousing reception to the newcomers.
Their seniors,
after enjoying a 50 days vacation, returned to their schools on Monday to begin
another academic year. After experiencing the sweltering heat during most part
of the vacation, the school reopening was marked by moderate weather and many
of them entered the classrooms fully enthusiastic mind.
The reopening
was started with prayers, songs. The address by head of the institutions
provided reassurance to the students, and many of them were seen exchanging
pleasantries with classmates on seeing each other after the vacation. First day
class was even more thrilling for them.
The school
reopening was also marked with the THEME “Wisdom is Life”.
